BH Live Active, Corfe Mullen to open following £1 million transformation

BH Live Active, Corfe Mullen in East Dorset is to open next month following the completion of a £1 million transformation programme.

Formerly operated by Virgin Active, BH Live acquired the lease for the site in 2016. A significant programme of improvements has since been undertaken.

A public preview event to tour the facilities is being held at the centre on Sunday 13 November from 10am-5pm before it officially opens on Monday 14 November 2016 at 6am.

There is also an open weekend on 19-20 November from 10am-5pm.

The swimming pool will open with public swimming sessions, aquatic activities and classes.

Its gym has been extended and transformed with the latest Life Fitness equipment.

Additional features, exclusive to Corfe Mullen, include MyZone and Fitness on Demand utilising the latest wearable and screen technology. There will also be a timetable of weekly group fitness classes including BH Live Active’s QUAD, which includes Power, Primal, Play and Pulse gym-based functional fitness classes.

Health and wellbeing activities will be delivered, in partnership with local healthcare providers, and include an exercise referral activity programme to encourage people living with health conditions into physical activity.

Tennis will continue to be offered and BH Live will consult with the community and funding partners to look at the possibility of a new five-a-side football court or multi-use games area in the grounds.

A new soft play zone for pre-school children, Terrace Café and bar, complete the centre’s makeover and a social calendar of activities and events promises to breathe new life into the building.

A learn-to-swim programme for adults and children will begin in 2017. BH Live Active’s 813 Club will also launch to encourage young people and families to get more active together.

“The wait is almost over and we are really looking forward to opening the doors to this fabulous new centre,” says Peter Gunn, BH Live’s Chief Executive.

“We have had phenomenal support from the local authorities, community and businesses while the improvements have been taking place. We have also had lots of interest in our introductory membership offers which has been very encouraging.

“As the centre’s transformation nears completion, we continue to explore further expansion opportunities across the south of England during 2017.”

Councillor Paul Harrison for East Dorset District Council adds. “I am delighted this fantastic venue has been safeguarded and significantly improved as a community hub for health and wellbeing. It’s a superb facility and has been well worth waiting for. See you there.”
